Election Tips & Reminders

TIPS AND REMINDERS FOR TUESDAY’S ELECTION:

  • The polls are open at the Town Hall from 7am to 8pm. Polls close promptly at 8pm.  If you are in line at that time, you will be allowed to cast your ballot.  If you arrive at 8:01pm, you will not.
  • To help speed up the process for you, remember when you arrive to have your proof of identification (usually a driver’s license) ready to show the inspectors, and clearly state your name and address at the poll book table when you enter,EVEN IF THE PERSON WORKING THE POLL BOOKS KNOWS YOU.  There may be election observers, or the election inspectors may not know your name, even if you think they do, etc. (If you do not have proof of identification, you will be allowed to cast a provisional ballot, but it will only be counted if you return with your photo ID.)
  • Also, please be patient and courteous when at the polling location.  Our election inspectors have a tough job and work hard at moving you and your neighbors through the process as efficiently as possible.
  • You can help by not engaging the election inspectors in conversations, and by visiting with your neighbors outside of the building.
  • It’s illegal to arrive at the polling location with buttons, flyers, banners, etc. for any candidate or party; please leave them at home or at least 100 feet from the building.  We want to see your smiling face, but not your voting preference.
